Carmuirs East Junction
A semaphore splitting distant signal on the approach to Carmuirs East Junction. Yellow upper quadrant distant arms are fitted, both of which are seen here in the 'on' position. The arms are mounted at different heights, representing the relative speeds of the routes to which they apply. The left-hand arm applies to the Down Branch, and the right-hand one is for the Down Main. A semaphore stop arm had formerly been mounted above the latter. (Photo taken 13 December 1994.)
